SCOPE OF CARE

We Handle It All

LifeMed can handle everything from advanced cardiac life support to neonatal resuscitation, all while flying patients to the most advanced care available -- in or out of Alaska.  Our medical flight teams transfer patients in fully-equipped, medically configured aircraft which are comparable to hospital intensive care units. We remain at the patient’s side until they reach the receiving facility, providing unparalleled medical care and expertise along the way.  Our critical care medical teams are able to transport and provide full resuscitative capabilities for virtually any patient condition, including:

  • High-Risk OB

  • Neonatal

  • Pediatric

  • Burn

  • Trauma

  • Stroke

  • Cardiac

  • Respiratory

  • Cancer

  • Traumatic Brain Injuries

  • Spinal Cord Injuries

  • Infectious Diseases

Our medical crews respond to scenes (including patient homes), clinics and remote regional facilities.  Interfacility transport of the patients in our community to local and interstate secondary and tertiary trauma centers and higher levels of patient care also are performed depending upon patient needs and resource allocations.

Equipment and Medications

Equipped with the most advanced medical technology, our medical flight crews are prepared for any situation that may arise during flight.  The medically configured aircraft are fully equipped and comparable to hospital intensive care units. Onboard you will find specialized stretchers, life-saving medications, oxygen, ventilators, 3 channel IV pumps, and top-of-the-line Zoll Propaq MD monitors and defibrillators.

LifeMed Alaska's aircraft carry 2 units of blood and Tranexamic Acid (TXA) for trauma patients as well as TNKase for cardiac patients.

Expert Specialty Care

Because pregnancy, childbirth and pediatric transports can pose unusual complications, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners from Providence Alaska Medical Center are contracted to accompany us on these specialized flights.  Fetal heart monitoring and incubators are used during these transports and our medical flight crews are guided by a physician board-certified in emergency medicine, a neonatologist, a pediatric intensivist or a maternal-fetal medical specialist.

LifeMed has Alaska’s only
