Flight Crew


LifeMed Alaska Flight crews transport a wide variety of patients with varying levels of acuity. Our role is to ensure patients are able to get the care they need, which can involve transports from Health Clinics in villages to facilities in Alaska’s larger communities or to locations outside of Alaska for specialty care. ......................................................................................................................... Flight Nurse I & II Flight Nurse I requires a nursing degree (BSN preferred), current ALS, BLS, and PALS certification, and a minimum of four years’ ICU/ED/Critical Care experience. Related experience will be evaluated for relevancy. Flight Nurse II requires a nursing degree (BSN preferred), current ALS, BLS, and PALS certification, and a minimum of seven years’ ICU/ED/Critical Care experience, including at least three years in flight medicine. All Flight Nurses are required to obtain the NRP certification within the first 90 days of employment and the CFRN certification within one year. Full time Flight Nurses typically work an average of eight 24-hour shifts per 4-week schedule block, or a total of 104 shifts per year. Juneau and Bethel-based staff work a 5-day on, 10-day off schedule for a total of 122 24-hour shifts per year. In addition to the ability to schedule time off between shifts, staff accrue two weeks’ PTO in the first year – three weeks’ PTO in year two – for rest and relaxation. Every 24-hour shift includes 16 hours of overtime pay. Flight staff are also paid for up to 140 hours of clinical education each year, including hospital clinicals and certification courses. Flight Medic I & II Flight Medic I requires a minimum of three years’ experience 911 emergency response system with consistent, high acuity patient volume. Two years’ critical care experience highly desirable. Related experience will be evaluated for relevancy. Flight Medic II requires a minimum of six years’ experience, including at least three years in flight medicine. Full time Flight Medics typically work an average of eight 24-hour shifts per 4-week schedule block, or a total of 104 shifts per year. Ground Crew


LifeMed Alaska’s Ground division typically transports patients for interfacility transfers, stable take-homes, and transports from the various flight programs in Anchorage and the Mat-Su valley. In addition to the long-term Ground and Flight medicine opportunity within our program, LifeMed Alaska’s Ground division is proud to provide quality training and experience for providers early in their careers. .............................................................................................. Ground Medic Ground Paramedics require successful completion of an accredited Paramedic course that meets Alaska state standards, an MICP license, and a minimum of two years’ as a licensed driver with a clean driving record. Full time Ground Medics work a Kelly Schedule, including three 24-hour shifts with one day off in between, followed by four days off, for a total of 122 24-hour shifts per year. In addition to the “long weekend” every rotation, staff accrue two weeks’ PTO in the first year – three weeks’ PTO in year two – for rest and relaxation. Ground EMT I (BLS provider) Ground EMT-Is require an EMT-I certification and a minimum of two years’ as a licensed driver with a clean driving record. EMT-II certified providers are eligible to apply for this position. Full time Ground EMT-Is work a Kelly Schedule, including three 24-hour shifts with one day off in between, followed by four days off, for a total of 122 24-hour shifts per year. In addition to the “long weekend” every rotation, staff accrue two weeks’ PTO in the first year – three weeks’ PTO in year two –for rest and relaxation. LifeMed Alaska’s Peak Truck is also an opportunity for EMT-Is to work a full time position in a 40-hour work week. The Peak Truck typically completes the Ground leg of Flight transports for any of the Flight programs in Anchorage. Peak Truck staff are scheduled to work four 10-hour days, including two hours of overtime each day and a shift differential for all hours worked. This position is great for providers who want to work full time in the industry without the 24-hour shift schedule. All employees are paid an overtime rate for hours over 8 in a day. Administration and Business Support


LifeMed Alaska currently has approximately 18 full time Administration positions, including roles in Operations leadership and management, Finance, Logistics, Training and Education, Quality and Safety, Fleet and Facilities, Business Development/Marketing, Human Resources, and Clinical leadership. The Administration and Business Support team is focused on providing the tools, systems, information, and support our Clinical staff need to fulfill our Mission to be the leader in the medevac industry.

These positions typically work a traditional Monday through Friday office schedule (flexing as needed for our 24-hour operations) and earn two weeks’ PTO in year one, three weeks’ PTO in year two – for rest and relaxation.
