LifeMed Alaska

Safety

LifeMed Alaska holds safety as the highest priority in the decision making process. Our company is built around providing the safest environment for our patients, fellow coworkers, and medical crews. To help prevent tampering LifeMed has closed circuit cameras to observe our hangers, medication storage room, heliports, air craft and ramps which are monitored 24/7 by communication specialist. Each air craft is flight followed in multiple ways through the use of Sky Connect, Flight Explorer, and position reports from pilots. This is to ensure exact location and ETA of each aircraft. Each aircraft is equipped with multiple VHF and 800 MHz frequencies as well as satellite phone to ensure medical crews have access to medical control anywhere they are at any time. LifeMed has an active safety committee involved in not only the day to day safety issues but in the QA/QI/PI process. The committee members are: a medical crew, pilot, and mechanic from each base, each vendor, and the leadership team.

All patients and passengers will have a safety briefing prior to liftoff. For those that are involved with rotor wing response LifeMed offers landing zone classes and training for EMS, Fire departments, and Law enforcement agencies. Please contact 1800-478-5433 if your department is interested in setting up a class.
